The Open Sunday
Another cracking six-race card on a day that is very popular with families and racing enthusiasts alike. This is the only Sunday where racing takes place at Cheltenham throughout the year, so a great opportunity to get the children along to enjoy a day out. Children under 18 receive free entry.
The highlight of the card is the 2m hurdle race, which sees the up and coming stars of the hurdling world take centre stage. The 2012 victor was Olofi, trained locally by Tom George and ridden by Paddy Brennan. Earlier in the day, the Racing Post Arkle Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase is held, which always produces a strong contender for the Racing Post Arkle Trophy during The Festival in March. Last year’s winner, Captain Conan, was no exception, going on to win three times during the rest of the season.
Club and Tattersalls ticket holders: To keep the children entertained there will be a range of family activities as well as our friends from The Cotswold Farm Park who will help them get up close to their favourite small animals.
Gates open at 11.00am with the first race at 1.00pm. The last race is at 3.50pm
