Removal of historic statues to safe storage to mark the beginning of the £45 million new grandstand redevelopment 29th March 2014

At the beginning of this week, Kier started work on the new Grandstand Development at Cheltenham Racecourse, which will be completed in readiness for the 2016 Festival. Before the construction started, the Arkle, Best Mate, Dawn Run and Golden Miller statues were removed from Cheltenham Racecourse to ensure their safety during building works.

Willie Mullins wins The Irish Independent Leading Trainer Award, Walsh wins the Boodles Leading Jockey Award & Great Britain win the Prestbury Cup 14th March 2014

Don Poli’s victory in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle secured The Irish Independent Leading Trainer Award at The Festival this year for Willie Mullins, who had a total of four wins and six seconds.

 

Ruby Walsh, who was hospitalised after a fall in the first race, won the Boodles Leading Jockey Award win three wins. Barry Geraghty, Davy Russell and Tom Scudamore also had three wins but Walsh - with three seconds - secured the Award.
