O'Brien set for jockeys' crown27th October 2012

Joseph O'Brien is set to secure the champion jockey title for the first time when the Irish Flat season ends next weekend - even though Pat Smullen landed a Leopardstown treble.

The former title-holder moved to within three of his young rival's tally at 87-84, but both riders are scheduled to be in America for the Breeders' Cup when the final fixtures take place.

O'Brien was on duty for his father, Aidan, at Doncaster, where he guided Kingsbarns to victory in the Racing Post Trophy.
