Re returns to hurdling ranks23rd October 2012

Ile De Re will revert to hurdling following his final run on the Flat at Ascot on Saturday.

The six-year-old, whose two previous runs on the level for Donald McCain resulted in victories in the Chester Cup and the Northumberland Plate, made the running until fading into seventh place behind Rite Of Passage in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup.

McCain will now try to find suitable hurdles races for the grey gelding, whose last run for trainer Ian Williams was over smaller obstacles in the Imperial Cup at Sandown in March.
