Famous in winning swansong27th October 2012

Dermot Weld's astounding Famous Name signed off from his illustrious career after securing his 20th stakes-race success in the Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown.

Despite giving weight away to all his rivals, the seven-year-old (1-5 favourite) had little difficulty in winning this 10-furlong Listed prize for a third time and has now been retired to the Irish National Stud.

Chrysanthemum and Barack cut out the early running, but Famous Name was never too far away and Pat Smullen eased him up to challenge turning into the straight, before he cut loose to beat Demurely by three and a half lengths. It was his 13th victory from 17 starts at Leopardstown.
