Worcestershire trainer Giles Smyly is seeking the biggest win of his career with the progressive Le Burf (10st 6lb) in the £53,000 Grade Two ESN Silver Trophy Chase Limited Handicap (3.55pm) at Cheltenham tomorrow, Wednesday, April 15.
Racing returns to Cheltenham for the first time since The Festival with three fabulous days of The April Meeting on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (evening), April 15, 16 and 17.

At around 12 noon on Thursday March 12, Guinness, the Dublin-brewed stout, will celebrate the millionth pint of Ireland’s national drink poured at the Cheltenham Festival.
7th March 2009: NICHOLLS TO DOMINATE TOTESPORT CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP AGAIN?
Champion trainer Paul Nicholls saddled the first three in last year's totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup, with Denman beating Kauto Star and Neptune Collonges, and the same three horses dominate the betting for this year's renewal of Britain's top chase which is worth a record £475,000 and staged at 3.20pm on Friday, March 13.

Kasbah Bliss, who only found the mighty Inglis Drever a length too good in last year's Ladbrokes World Hurdle, heads the 16 acceptors at the six-day confirmation stage for this year's renewal of the £260,000 contest (3.20pm), the feature race on day three of The Festival, Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Cheltenham today announced that it is to honour legendary Festival bookmaker Freddie Williams, who passed away last year, by naming a race after him at this year’s Festival.
19th Feb 2009: MASSIVE 216 ENTERED FOR INAUGURAL MARTIN PIPE CONDITIONAL JOCKEYS' HANDICAP HURDLE
The first running of the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle has drawn an amazing 216 initial entries. The new contest – staged over and extended two and a half miles – will be the penultimate race of The 2009 Festival on Friday, March 13, and has attracted huge interest.

17th Feb 2009: CHELTENHAM ANNOUNCES EXTRA WEEK FOR CHRISTIE’S FOXHUNTER QUALIFICATION
Cheltenham announced today that it has been granted permission by the British Horseracing Authority to delay the closing date of the Christie’s Foxhunter Steeple Chase at The Festival by a week. The race was due to close on Tuesday, February 24, but will now close on Tuesday, March 3. The qualification date moves from February 23 to March 2.
13th Feb 2009: WILLIAMHILL.COM TO SPONSOR SUPREME NOVICES’ HURDLE
Leading bookmakers William Hill were today unveiled as the new sponsors of the williamhill.com Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – the famous curtain raiser at The Festival on Tuesday, March 10.

Entries are revealed today for the four Grade One novice hurdles at The Festival – the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle (Tuesday, March 10), the Ballymore Properties Novices’ Hurdle (Wednesday, March 11), the JCB Triumph Hurdle (Friday, March 13) and the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle (Friday, March 13).

Cheltenham Racecourse today announced that the newest race at The Festival is to be named in honour of Martin Pipe, the most successful Jump trainer of all time. The Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, run for the first time in 2009, will be the penultimate race of The Festival, at 4.40pm on totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup Day, Friday, March 13.
15th Jan 2009: LAST YEAR’S FIRST FOUR IN 2009 LADBROKES WORLD HURDLE
Last year’s first four finishers in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle could all meet again in the 2009 renewal at Cheltenham on Thursday, March 12, after appearing in the 36 entries for this year’s contest, revealed today.
The previous four winners of the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle could all re-oppose at The Festival in March, with Hardy Eustace (2004 & 2005), Brave Inca (2006), Sublimity (2007) and last season’s champion Katchit among the 34 entries for this year’s race, the highlight of the first day of The Festival on Tuesday, March 10.
12th Jan 2009: GOLDSWORTHY LOOKING FOR FESTIVAL CLUES AT CHELTENHAM
Trainer Keith Goldsworthy is hoping that exciting novices Hold Em and Shenanigan can further enhance their Festival claims on Festival Trials Day at Cheltenham on Saturday, January 24, 2009.
Superb entries are revealed today for the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Ryanair Chase, respectively run on March 11 and 12 at The Festival, with last year’s winners Master Minded and Our Vic both entered to retain their titles.
Owner Clive Smith firmly believes that Kauto Star can gain compensation over stablemate Denman in this year’s totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday, March 13. The Paul Nicholls-trained pair are among 38 horses who have been entered for the £475,000 highlight of the four-day Festival at Cheltenham (Tuesday, March 10 - Friday, March 13).
