Cheltenham Racing Ltd

Cheltenham Racing Ltd., was launched in the Summer of 1993 with the aim of giving its members the thrill of involvement with racehorses and the dream of winning races at Cheltenham - a feat achieved five times to date. Gold Cup winning trainer David Nicholson (who purchased and trained Zaitoon to win six races) was an Honorary and Lifetime Member of the Company and since his death Mrs Dinah Nicholson has become our President.

The enthusiastic membership (which is restricted to 250 in number) has been rewarded with a fair measure of success, with their horses winning a total of 29 races thus far. In addition to those at Cheltenham, our horses have won four at Worcester and Market Rasen, three at Plumpton, two at Haydock Park and Wincanton and one each at Bangor-on-Dee, Carlisle, Exeter, Huntingdon, Ludlow, Newton Abbot, Perth, Taunton and Warwick. Company horses have finished in the first four on 101 other occasions.

We currently have THREE horses in training; Prestbury Knight is with Nigel Twiston-Davies at Naunton, High Life is at Barbury Castle with Alan King and Dillay Brook is in training with Tom George at Slad.

Members are kept in touch with the progress of the horses by way of a regularly updated, national-rate telephone information line and by e-mail through our Yahoo! Group.

Benefits include free admission to Cheltenham Racecourse when our horses run and on other specified days, plus reduced admission to other courses when we have runners. FREE private entertainment facilities are normally provided for the use of members and their guests when racing. We arrange two stable visits to each yard each year, offer videos of races, prize competitions and provide all members with two FREE Club Badges, a Car Park Label and two private marquee lapel badges on Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle Day (the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival) and free admission at the first January meeting and for the AGM (October) and GM (April).

The subscription charge for new members in 2007/2008 is £300.00 plus VAT, making a total of £352.50. Annual Membership runs from 1 July to 30 June.

The Company employs a stringent welfare policy for all of its retired horses and has regular updates on their progress. Directors, the Manager and Members maintain contact with our old, and not so old, favourites on a regular basis.
