Gloucestershire Trainers Championship
There are approximately 4,500 horses trained for Jump Racing in the UK, of which 11% are trained in Gloucestershire with 18 different trainers whose facilities vary from small private yards to state of the art training establishments like Jackdaws Castle. In the past three seasons Gloucestershire based trainers have sent out over 6,000 runners to win over 720 races and be placed in a further 2,000. The county as a whole enjoys a win and place strike rate of 45%.
The Cotswold Life Gloucestershire Trainers' Championship charts the success of local trainers throughout the season. Each has been given a 'handicap' rating based on their number of horses in training and their number of runners in recent seasons. For every winner trained between 26 October and 14 April they will be awarded the number of points equal to their handicap with any Cheltenham winner or winner priced 25-1 or longer being awarded double points.
The winning trainer will be presented with an award, courtesy of Cotswold Life, at the end of the Championship at Cheltenham in April 2008
