Ladies Day - Wednesday March 16th 2011
This season Ladies Day at The Festival is on Wednesday 16th March.
Get your friends together for a fabulous day out. Wednesday is Ladies Day at The Festival and this season it promises to be better than ever. Understated yet elegant fashion, the best Jump racing anywhere in the world and an atmosphere like no other all add up to a great day out with friends and family.
Fashion Awards
The ever-popular Fashion Awards will take place throughout the morning during the build-up the the first race at 1.30pm. Three lucky female racegoers who impress the judges with their stylish attire, will enjoy a package of luxury prizes. In 2010, these prizes included:
- 12 months use of a brand new Alfa Romeo Mito, provided by Gloucestershire's largest motor dealership, Blade Group
- A deluxe overnight stay at The Greenway Hotel in the Cotswolds (part of the von Essen Hotels Collection), including a personal style taster session with Stuart Weir
- 24 hour use of an amazing Aston Martin DB9, courtesy of Dream Car Hire
- A fabulous coat from the Tweed Collection at lifestyle fashion specialists, Cousins of Cheltenham
- A Magnum of Rose Champagne, courtesy of Lanson International
Prizes will be presented to:
- The Best Dressed Lady
- The Lady with the Best Hat
- The Lady with the Best Accessories
Fashion scouts will be roaming the racecourse as soon as the gates open at 10.30am, spotting well dressed ladies and pointing them in the direction of the Fashion Awards entry point. Winners will be selected by a special panel of style judges and the presentations will be made to the three winners in the Winners' Enclosure just before the first race.
How to enter the Fashion Awards
Entries for the Fashion Awards must be made in person on Ladies Day, Wednesday March 16. Simply head to the Fashion Area near the Octagon, situated between the Parade Ring and the Main Grandstand and look for the Pink Parasol! Entrants must be aged 18 or over.
Outstanding Contribution Award
Each year, as part of Ladies Day, we recognise the impact that ladies have had and continue to have on the sport of Jump racing. The focal point for this is the presentation of the award for 'The Outstanding Contribution Made by a Lady to Jump Racing' . In previous years this has been won by Heather Atkinson, from Cheltenham's Jockeys Hospital, by Chicky Oaksey from the Injured Jockeys Fund, by Ann Saunders from the Jockeys Association and by Nina Carberry, top female jump jockey. A short list of six was drawn up from nominations made by members of the public and a panel of female racing experts selected the 2010 winner, Grand National winning trainer Venetia Williams.
